I don't know who they are actually made by, but I do know they LIE in their advertisements. They claim 99% light transmission "from the objective to your eye". That's a paraphrase, but very close to what I remember their ad said. In VERY HIGH END glass it is possible to get 99% transmission through a single lens. Through all the lenses in a scope, say there are only 5, you are down to 95% transmission from objective to eye... Some extremely high end scopes get total 96% or 97% maybe, but I don't believe anyone is capable of 99%. It is a pure misrepresentation... a lie. I don't remember what they cost, it seems like it was in the "low to middle of the market" range. They could not afford to sell glass of their claimed quality at those prices.
I wouldn't consider them...

its how you calculate it -- say you have 4 elements and the transmission of each element is .99 which could be an accurate statement so--- 1st, 99 and 2nd would be .99x.99-.98 and 3rd would be .99 x .98 -- .97 and the 4, .99 x .97-- .96 etc.

Dale, I fully agree with your math, but this is their statement:
"Fully-multicoated on every lens surface brings 99% of the light from the objective to your eye" About as disingenuous as it can get... at the very best INTENTIONALLY misleading. |
