Sightron sll 4-14x50    Swift  premier 4-12x50   Vortex diamondback 4-12x40 .  This scope will be going on my wifes .270 These are just some ideas on some scopes that she likes. Would like some expert help in selecting. Does not have to be one of the above choices. Would like anyones opinion.  350.00 and less.

How much shooting experience does your wife have?  If she an avid hunter I think any of the variables you listed would be fine.  If she's just starting out, I think a fixed power in something like 4x or 6x might be a good option, less things to think about when the shot presents itself, which builds confidence.  Come to think of it, a fixed power is chosen by some of the most respected hunters in the buisiness.

The three you listed are very decent for the money, though I think the viper is probably the best optically, I had a SII some years back and I thought it also was very nice. Tuff descisions are what makes it fun.

If it were me, I would go with a 3-9x in the same price range which will give you a step up in glass quality.  Glass quality will always trump magnification.

Look at the Bushnell 4200 3-9x for $260  http://swfa.com/Bushnell-3-9x40-Elite-4200-Rifle-Scope-P6910.aspx
Sightron S2 Bigsky  for $379 with $50 mail in rebate  http://swfa.com/Sightron-3-9x42-SII-Big-Sky-Riflescope-P9158.aspx
Vortex Viper for $329.  http://swfa.com/Vortex-3-9x40-Viper-Rifle-Scope-P10817.aspx

Lifetime warranty and excellent customer service don't mean a thing when your gun fails during a zombie attack.

Nice, and there's a few Nikon Monarchs to choose from.
