Hi, I'm new to this forum. My problem is that my Bushnell Banner 1,5-4,5x32 scope has broken down 'seals' under the adjustment turret covers. I mean the two rubber flat rings which in my case have been cracked in several places. Do these rings seal the scope, or are they just for making friction so the covers won't come loose and drop? Here's a picture with that little red circle surrounding the rubber ring, hope I made some sense.

Those seals do nothing for the internal integrity of the scope. They are as you guessed there to keep the covers snug, and dry. I would suggest not using gun oil on the scope. It does this type of damage to the seals, all of them. Use a silicon embedded cloth on the scope only, don't use anything else. The neoprene that is used for the seals will break down and become brittle.

Thanks for the replies. I do have nice collection of o-rings and found a pair of good fit but when I noticed the old o-rings(not really a round edged ring, rather flat sharp edged very soft ring) were glued down the turret I thought it'll be better to ask than be sorry. Guess the seals for the turrets are somewhere inside, right?

Yes they are sealed at the point there. Otherwise the purging would escape whenever you adjust the windage/elevation.

I don't know where the Banner is made. How can you tell? I couldn't find any text indicating the origins. Is the older model somehow different?

The Banner, unless recently changed, is made in Korea.
