Hello,
have a new 5R and a 700P LTR... both .308
question is:
would this be a good long distance/multipurpose scope?
Basically 100-600 yds in desert and at range. Some hunting(5%)
Thinking here is... I need help from you guys!!!
Thanks in advance for opinions.

Good googlie mooglie, I would say that was a bit of over kill. Look at the SS 3-9 or 10X42 HD

I own that S&B on a Tikka Battue Lite in .30-06. I hunt in Germany and so far, that glass has done me right from 0445 through 0130 on Roe, fox and marten.
2 weeks ago, I dropped a Roe at 1955hrs under the full moon at a range of 199m.
4 days ago, I dropped a Roe at 78m under no moon, overcast and misty at 1730hrs.
The only thing (besides it ain't cheap) that I wish the S&B had was something like IOR Valdada's 4-14x56mm. I just wish the magnification was 3-12 or 4-14 in the 56mm. Not that it's legal to shoot over 200m here, I am just getting a bit older and longer in the tooth and think my sight isn't what it used to be. Another power of magnifcation or 2 might help me ID the sexes at 200m at night a bit easier.
Buy it. You won't return it.

Don't be afraid to look at US Optics and Nightforce as well. Both make a scope that is within those budgets and you can pick what you want pretty much. Once you jump into PH territory and the more tactical S&Bs along with the Zeiss it just goes up in price from there.
