I know you guys are just sittin' around waiting to make suggestions for me. Smile

I am getting a Remy XCR compact .308 to hunt deer and elk in Colorado (<<300 yards max) and target shoot (i.e. practice, practice, pratice) out to 600 yards. I am leaning toward the SWFA 3-9x42. It is mil/mil and FFP. For the value, it seems tough to beat, especially the package and excellent customer service SWFA offers.

Thank you in advance for your suggestions.

  WELCOME to OT,G!!

You've got GOOD instincts. For the money, that scope IS hard to beat and would serve you well for its intended purpose.

http://swfa.com/Leupold-4-12x40-VX-II-Riflescope-P5857.aspx
Rather than suggest scopes I don't own these two that I do have would seem to work well for your purposes. The Zeiss Rapid-Z 600 is specifically designed for out to 600 yards which would meet your requirements.
My Leupold 4X12 doesn't have the adjustable objective and I have it doped for out to 400 yards.
I use both of these for hunting and target. The Zeiss is mounted on a .270 and the Leupold is on a .308. Best wishes and good luck with your quest.

Here is a Super Sniper 3-9x42 on a XCR .308. I mounted it today with a EGW Base and Super Sniper Rings.

The 3-9 SS IMO is the very best choice hands down for this application.

I'd take the 3-9 SS over the Zeiss - having owned both.  The glass is as good, the turrets seal the deal, as does the FFP.

Get the SS, it is the best deal going, by far.
