Was at a gun show in Tucson, Az today. Walked by a display selling Explore Optics Big Bore scopes. I was impressed with the way they looked, they look very similar to my Leupold Mk4 variables. I picked one up and turned the zoom all the way up ,24 power, looked through an open door at some trees about 200 yards away and was very surprised at how clear and unfuzzy it was. Price was between $300-$400. I'm looking for a "tactical" style variable for my Panther Arms LR308. I own 2 Leupold Mk4 8.5-25's, and Swarovski and Zeiss binoculars. I know what looking through good glass is like. I couldn't compare the Explore side by side with anything but like I said I was impressed with the quality of the optics with such a small price. Does anybody have any experience with scope?

My guess is only the Chinese have experience with it.
I looked on their web site and they do look nice from a distance but you can start to tell the quality of the scopes from the design and quality of the companies scope rings. Their rings don't look real solid compared to Badger Ordnance. You get what you pay for, sometimes less never more. Edited by Urimaginaryfrnd - November/07/2009 at 23:44 |
