I realize there are a number of tremendous optics out there, but i can't seem to find a local shop that carries anything but Leupold and Nikon.  A couple will have some lower end Swarovski and Zeiss.  I have read some great things about Sightron, Vortex, Burris, Pentax, but no one in south texas carries them.   I was wondering if i would be better served sticking with a brand i can get a hold of locally rather than take a chance ordering a scope sight unseen.

If you order from SWFA, the sponsor of this Forum, you won't have any problems...
www.swfa.com.  You can get pretty much anything you want...

It is difficult to pull the trigger on an $800 scope when you can put your hands on the product and look through it.  Just curious as to whether this is typical to all areas or just my location.

S.W.F.A Inc.'s Handshake Guarantee

We have been in business for over 25 years and counting.

We do business based on a very simple idea. If you are not 100% satisfied with our products or service, we'll refund your money! Just return any new unused item to us within 10 days from the date delivered. Include a copy of your receipt and we will issue a refund. Shipping charges are not refundable and we can not accept returns on special order items.

It is unusual to find a local shop with the inventory variety SWFA maintains.  I place it in the "not very likely" category.  Some of the MAJOR gun/hunting stores maintain some high end items, but the list is not big.  Give SWFA a try, I don't think you will be disappointed.  Of course, your expectations must be realistic.

Not sure where you're located in Texas, but SWFA is in Red Oak, Texas. Might be worth a drive to handle and eyeball some different stuff.   -Al
