Hi all. I'm in the market for another hunting scope and have narrowed it down to a few but am open to other suggestions. You'll see a price point that I've established but could be changed for the right scope. This scope will be going on a Winchester Model 70 in .300 Win mag with a 26" barrel which has long range hunting potential hence the reticle choices.
Here is where I'm at so far: http://swfa.com/Nitrex-3-9x42-TR-One-Rifle-Scope-P42593.aspx
I have other deer rifles; Rem 700 in 6mm an old rifle with a 3X9 Bushnell set in see-thru mounts (the open sights get way more use than the scope) this rifle has a short barrel and is my brush gun; Weatherby Vanguard Sporter in .270 the scope is a 3X9 Zeiss Conquest with Rapid-Z 600 reticle, this is a new set-up and is showing real promise if targets are any indication, the scope is great (my 32 year old (youngest) son will be using this one on opening day); T/C Icon in .308 wearing a 4X12 Leupold with long range reticle, hunting deer with this combo last year was a dream 4 for 4 and got one of them at 340 yards +/-. The .300 won't see a lot of action and I really don't need it but man is it fun to shoot. At least for now I don't want to invest a lot in optics for this rifle. Incidentally it has a Leupold VXII (older friction turrets) 3X9 on it right now that I've zeroed +3" at 100 yards and could be put into service as is.
Thanks in advance for any responses, I consider this group to be well informed on this subject and enjoy doing business with SWFA.

Well I did finally decide and went with the Nitrex. I'll be the Guinea pig on this one, none were in stock as this is a new line for SWFA and they are just starting to built stock. The good news is that Nitrex has a mail in rebate program going on and that will save me $50.
I did speak with the mother ship for this scope in Wisconsin and got a good feeling from a representative, the reviews I was able to find sounded promising and it's not a lot of money so we'll see how it goes.

Let us know how it goes, I know nothing of these.
Did the "mother ship" say , "OK" for a 300WM? |

Yes it was a go with the Win mag, that was the main concern I had. Compared to some of the calibers getting popular a .300 isn't considered much of a big deal. It's all I need, LOL.

This is contrary to what you write about maximum power and ballistic reticles, I thought the same thing until I really read and understood the instructions for my Zeiss. Using this simple system has enabled me to make much better use of the scopes of this type.
