'Cause it was within touching distance and that's all he had? Makes you wonder if wearing deer scent on your shoes is a good idea? |

Life's concerns should be about the 120lb pack your trying to get to the top of the mountain, and not the rock in your boot.

A guy I work with has a trail cam photo of a big , mature whitetail buck being dragged past the camera (at night with flash), by a very big mountain lion.
Near Black River Falls, WI.
There aren't any cougars in Wisconsin according to the DNR.

According to a couple of DNR friends that I have, when they say there are none, it really means that there may be a few. Mostly that the population isn't what they call sustainable. Less than 1 in 10 square miles or so. We have wolves here in Georgia, there have been a few sightings, just that the number is so relatively few, as to say they are non existent.
They often say no cotton mouths in the Atlanta area, and north Georgia, but that again isn't exactly true.

Ironically this is within the same county as the head of DNR's place. I'm guessing they are within ten miles of one another.

When reintroducing a species into an area the wildlife department will often deny that the species is there because of the liability reasons. After it is widely accepted that they exist then the videos of how they are returning animals to their previous ranges come out. Touting how well the departments money is being wisely wasted.

Hey, the Department of Corrections releases wildlife into country all the time, and they never get sued.

I sure wish they could be sued every time that idea goes bad. It would soon cease to be a problem. We need to start holding lenient officials accountable for the 'mistakes" they make in setting certain "animals" free.

SD GFP tried to say that mountain lions are not in eastern SD. Iowa DNR has tried to say that mountain lions are not in western IA. Like 3-10's said, mostlikely denying for liability reason.
Agree Ronk!!! |
