I am thinking about putting a Zeiss Diavari V 2.5x10x50 on a Savage 10FP-LE1A (20" bbl).  I will only use this gun in 300 yd. situations or less.  I know about the quality of the glass on the Zeiss, but how would the scope hold up in terms of durability and holding a zero vs. the Leupold tacticles?  Also, do I need tacticle rings, or would the standard Leupold base/rings be sufficient?

Hi,

I have a couple of the Savage 10FPLE2A rifles. The best bang for the buck you can get. Your Zeiss scope is of extreme quality. The Zeiss factory ring is a Warne Maxima ring with their logo on it..... On my rifles, I wound up using a Warne 2 piece base set (M902/30MM) and Warne Maxima Quick Detach rings. I found this to work better for me than the Warne tactical base and rings.... for me.

Get the best.

Badger.

Why skimp on such an important piece of gear, after spending so much on a quality scope?

"but how would the scope hold up in terms of durability and holding a zero vs. the Leupold tacticles?"

Thats a hard comparison when you compare this "hunting" scope to the Leupold 'tactical". The Zeiss is geared around hunting aspects. Where as the Leupold is built for toughness and tracking (tactical purposes). The Zeiss will hold zero, track and will be durable. The Leupold tactical will just do it more efficiently. I wouldn't worry about this concern with the sope you have.

You could get a Schmidt & BENDER 3-12x42 or 3-12x50 and be done with it! They dont make alot of scopes, they dont advertise alot, but they make them right and they spend their money on making sure they are right.

ITs a Huskvarna in 6,5X55 Ackely improved with a Zeiss DF6-24X72 scope.

In Sweden we are allowed to hunt deer until one hour after sunset and boar and fox all night, so the extra light from the 72mm lens is very welcome.

I have a number of scopes and I have used a lot, but I have never seen anything like thisone.

Regards Håkan

Is your objective touching your barrel? Looks like it is laying right on top. What height rings are those?
