Apparently, I need professional guidance. I'm getting ready to mount up the scope on my Win Low Wall .243. I'm looking at the rear base (stupid Leupys with a turn in front, but they will do for now as S&K's ended up being 3X the cost). It appears that if I place the rear base with the windage adjustment screws rearmost, the base will overhang the top of the action quite a bit. There is sufficient clearance but it looks a bit wierd. It this o.k. or am I missing something? Loco

It is sometimes possible to correct that by turning the rear base around, front to back.
I don't know if that will help your situation without actually seeing it, though.

edited to specify "rear" base.

The windage screws go to the front. Both of my 1885's are mounted this way. I wish Talley made mounts for these rifles. The Leupold's keep the scope very high. Even with lower rings.

Folks ain't got a sense of humor no more. They don't laugh they just get sore.

Need to follow the rules. Just hard to determine which set of rules to follow
Now the rules have changed again.

Thanks, I'll reverse it. I did find a rail type base by Ken Farrell but it's matte and costs about $95 (just for the base) so I passed on it. The S&K mounts are probably sweet and I may end up with them eventually. For now, I'll just use the Leupys'.
