ATM I'm looking at a few scopes. So I wanted to get you opinions on the Kahles KX.
How does it compare to Zeiss Conquest or Leupolds VX3's in the same power range? Still made Austria? Are these still a rugged/dependable scope? How about the eye-relief. I see it's 3.5". Is that minimum? How about tube space. As I'm looking to put it on a Pre-64. Love to see some pictures of a KX on your rifles. Where is the best place to buy one? Thanks in advance |

Forgot to mention 'eyebox'. I love the Zeiss 3-9x40 & VX3 2.5-8x36 eyebox so I want something similar! Ans since I cannot eyeball it first hand I need some help ;)
ATM I'm using a VX11 2-7x33, which IMO is a outstanding little scope for the $. 'Eyebox' is fantastic on that so I do not want to buy another scope unless it throws a big 'eyebox'! |

I have a Conquest 2 -8; a Leo VX III (not the most recent model) in 2.5 X 8 and until recently a VX II 2 - 7X.
First all three will do the job, but the Conquest and Leo are noticably superior. Between the Leo and the Conquest the Conquest is sharper (much) but the Leo is much more forgiving as to eye position - very important when you are hunting and spook game. Both are rugged and will accurately index. Both are more than you need to hunt or go to the range. At over 300 yards the Conquest is my pick (just targets at this range!). When the wild pigs suddenly start runnung at 50 yards the Leo is best. You can drop both without worrying.

Uhhh... I don't think so. Kahles KX is a tad better than Conquest and VX-3 optically. Not by a huge margin, but it is better. |

340,
Yes, they are still made in Austria, and always have been. The 3.5" eye relief is constant eye relief at all powers. Yes, they are durable scopes. The only issues with Kahles these days are limited importation outside Europe and difficult customer service / warranty process. I don't know what availability of these scopes is in Australia or where the best place for you to buy them. Here in the US, Kahles no longer has an importer or customer service location, so if we need warranty or other work done to Kahles scopes, we have to send them back to Austria. It may be the same for you. This may or may not be a deal-breaker for you. However, chances are good you won't have any problems with your scope requiring repairs. |
