I'm looking for recommendations for a high quality .22 scope. I want one that's proportionate to the rifle, so something along the lines of a 3-9x33 objective is about right size-wise, and I want one with an AO or already parallax corrected to 50 yards or so.
I looked at a Nikon Prostaff 4x33 the other day and was impressed - it wasn't especially small but it was sharp and bright. The store was out of Leupold 3x9 rimfires, but the sales person said they were nice. I notice several posters here like the Weaver. Has anyone compared the Leupold, Weaver. and Prostaff scopes side by side? I want the best quality I can get. Thanks! |

I can only say great things about the Leupold. I have a 3.5-10 EFR with the same glass as the 3-9x33. It has been a great scope.
The clicks are crisp and reliable. The AO is easy to use and helps when shooting real close at small pests. Others here like the Weaver's. My only experience is with the 4X and that is a fine scope, also. In a fixed four power, I would get the Weaver over the Leupold. That is based strictly on the heavier reticle. It is better for low light than the fine reticle of the FXI. |

The Sightron 3x9 rimfire scope is also pretty nice.

I like the Weaver RV9 3-9x32 w/AO. The Leupold VXII Rimfire is a step up but almost $200 more.
I also like the Weaver V16 and V24 on 22 target rifles but they are a bit big. Edited to fix typo. Edited by sholling - September/23/2009 at 09:59 |

Those refurbished Nikon 4x's look like good values.
Shollling, did you mean Leupold VXII's? I've never heard of a Nikon VXII. Also, those are some sharp looking rigs. What kind of barrels do you have on them? Thanks for the ideas everyone! |

Oops Typo - Leupold VXII
The top one has an ER Shaw fluted factory contour and the other one has a Volquartsen THM with carbon fiber. Edited by sholling - September/23/2009 at 22:18 |

I have the Weaver RV-7 and RV-9 mounted on a pair of 22 bolt action rifles. They're both outstanding scopes. The RV-7 is quite a bit more compact, if that's a consideration.
