I know the 2 have have been hashed out numerous times, but I'm looking for a new scope for my 7mm that will be used to primarily hunt whitetails here in TX, but I am going to CO for mule deer, antelope in CO in 2010, and who knows what the future will bring or what tags I may draw; so I want an all around scope for the 7mm that can cover me from dawn to dusk and 50 - 450 yards. The 2 I've narrowed it down to for many reasons, are:
a. Leupold 4.5-14x40 LR duplex reticle (I like having the 14x for use at the range after I shoot instead of using a spotter, but not necesarily hunting - but I shoot alot at the range; great warranty, sleek scope).
b. Swarovski 3-10x42 AV duplex reticle (heard too many good things about these; lightweight, bright, tough, all around scope).
I know they are not very close in magnification, but these are the two I like. The price is about the same for a new Leupold vs. a used Swarovski. So which would you choose?

Swaro.
Absolutely no question! If you can afford it, you will NEVER regret it! |

+1 on the Swaro. They aren't even in the same class. |

I used to have a Leupold on my Sako and I switched it to a Swaro 3-10. Big difference. Go with the Swaro!
