what about using a telescope for target shooting ( checking bullet holes in paper target  300 to 1000 yards ).  seems like this would be the way to go for under 600.00 price tag. thanks. marty

I don't know but a C-14 Fastar might be a little much to carry.  LOL!   But talk about resolution!!!

An astronomy telescope (refractor) can be used at the range. The negatives will be weight, size, not waterproof, and  not as rugged as a good spotting scope. The positives will be lower cost potential, as good or better resolution (sharpness of detail), and ability to use various eyepieces for the various distances you mentioned.

However, nothing beats a spotting scope at the range.
