Well, we put up a feeder last weekend and my brother went to the lease yesterday, the lease is just outside of Columbus and there has been no hunting on or around it... I didn't really expect to see any action yet

front feeder in the field

game trail and a mineral lick I put in

stock tank, just dug a hole and filled with corn and spread some out

looks like we have some potential

no hogs on cams yet..
need to put out 2 more feeders

considering we are in a drought and there has been no supplmental feeding, I think with some rain, corn, protein and mineral licks and careful management, we can have some decent bucks

and I like to think there's a few really nice ones out there lurking in the shadows[/img]

I'd be more excited about deer than hogs.

Not bad, not bad at all.  Since we don't have hogs up here, how do deer take to hogs being around the same feeder?  Does it bother them or not?

Where I hog hunt in Texas, I have seen deer and hogs eating at the same feeder at the same time.  Smaller hogs, though.  The big ones tend to scare the deer off.  Don't know if that is common or not...

I think I read somwhere that hogs will actually prey upon very young fawns. Anybody know if that's true?
I'll believe almost anything after seeing a video of a cow elk eating a bunch of killdeer chicks right out of the nest, as the mother bird tried in vain to lure her away with the old 'Broken wing" act!
Never would have believed that an elk would eat birds!

Nice pics. ccoker!

That is odd isnt it. I guess no worse than my dogs eating apples off the apple tree.

ah...
it's only 200 acres
there's a big field up front, we will put a stand on the back tree line to cover the field
though we don't really want to be hunting "over" a feeder per se
getting them coming and going but not just sitting 100 yards away from the feeder

we will put up another feeder in the back, perhaps near the stock tank

we will put up a few 2 person ladder stands and the one box blind up front

hunting, will be a mix of stand and stalk
the front box blind is good for kids, nice,  warm and dry

also want to put up a protein feeder

we have a kazillion coons, so, looks like the kids will get to have some live fire practice
my son's (12) CZ scout shoots subsonic rounds very, very accurately :)

I will use my Sako 270 for stand hunting the front field or the long road on one side where shots can be 300 yards, the 6.8 for stalking, 44 Smith and perhaps give bow hunting a real try this year

Dang man!  Deer hunting in NH sucks.  I never see this kind of stuff in any of my hunting grounds.  I want to see this big time deer video production companies come hunting in NH.  All they would show is cold hunters and an occasional skipper.  I did count 12 deer in two hours one hunting day....but that was once.  Thats it....I am as mad as...well you know.....and I aint gunna take it no mo.  I am moving with you guys.  You guys seem to live where the deer are.
