Hey guys I have a SS 10x42M on a .308 and it seems like something weird is happening. The scope adjusts 1/4 MOA like it should, BUT at around 600 Yards this adjustment seems to almost double. For example  if i am shooting 6 inches to the right, 1 MOA (4 clicks ) should put it on spot. However it seems to throw it twice as far like 6" to far to the left. Same with elevation....it is on a zero MOA base, which shouldnt matter it has twice the adjustment.....is this an erecter tube problem or what....this is really starting to piss me,I just dont understand, can someone help me with this...THANKS

Run a 10 MOA box test at 100 yards.  If there is a problem with the internals, it will show there.

Also, be advised, at 600 yards, any slight error in trigger pull, wind call, natural point of aim, or any of 100 other factors could result in throwing the rounds 6 inches.

Are you grouping at 600 yards. If so, where?

Do this at 100 yards (with the scope initially set at 100 yard zero):

fire one round
move 20 clicks left, 20 clicks up, fire 1 round
move 40 clicks right, fire one round
move 40 clicks down, fire one round
move 40 clicks left, fire one round
move 40 clicks up, fire one round
move 40 clicks right, fire one round
move 40 clicks down, fire one round
move 40 clicks left, fire one round
move 40 clicks up, fire one round
move 40 clicks right, fire one round
move 40 clicks down, fire one round
move 40 clicks left, fire one round
move 20 clicks up, 20 clicks right, fire one round

If you have a tracking problem, the groups will not be tight AND/OR will not be where they should.  Believe me, it is worth the range time and ammo!

Note:  Right down the shot progression, and check off each dope change as you make it.  Nothing sucks more than losing your position in the middle of a box test.

At 600 yds on a 168 Gr 308 with 2 mph wind error will move you 6.6" off your target. Wind is very hard to judge over a 600 yard range even with several wind flags for indicators. Occasionaly (Rarely) I am lucky but usually I have to take visual corrections.
