I have a 270 WSM and Im wanting to know if I can do this safely, Please let me know if this is acceptable. I want to take a load out of the Hornady Book which is using
53.8gr of H 4350 in a V-MAX 110gr. bullet
I want to take a load out of a Barnes Book which is using
63. grains of H 4350 in a TSX BT 110gr. bullet
Now for the lowest amount of recoil I want to use the Barnes 110gr. TSX BT and the Hornady powder amount of 53.8
Is it ok to do this?
Thanks!
JF

Hey,
Wow what a quick response, Thank you very Much!
Have you tired the 110 gr. TSX BT's Before or any of the 110 gr loads for the 270WSM?
Do you think the TSX BT 130gr. or whatever flavor of 130 gr. will be more accurate?
Its frickin 109 degrees out there , Im staying in today

well the .270wsm probably has a 1:10 twist, so its probably going to shoot anything from 130-150 grains a lot more accurately than it would with lighter stuff.
i shot a 120gr tsx out of my 6.5rem mag 60.5gr of r-19 and it hauls serious butt and is very accurate, im waiting to shoot a deer with this combo. |

Hey Julio,
You say that 53.8gr H4350 load is out of the Hornady manual? Hodgdon's website shows a starting load of 59gr H4350 w/a110gr bullet. Also,Barnes website shows a starting load of 63gr of IMR4350 not H4350.
Recheck that Hornady load if you would. I wouldn't want to run that much under Hodgdon's recommended starting load.

my hornady manual says 53.8gr of h-4350 in it as well. if you wanted burn even less powder you could use 47.5gr of reloader 15 and still be in that 3000fps area.

Yeah it is!
I like the sounds of your load Pyro, that 120 gr. TSX BT ought to do a job on Deer.
I know a guy who uses these 110gr TSX BT's on Elk too, he says the little well placed bullet just drops em. I know very little myself, but Ive heard many good things about this bullet design......I have TSX 130gr. and 110gr. in there ready to load as soon as I get my fancy powder scale and my son comes over to help me get the rest of the Hornady Press together.

that sucks!!! i need to buy a new scale myself, there really isnt much i like about the one i have, other than its digital. you have to re zero it after about every box of shells you load, for some reason it " wonders" off a few tenths and its not real fast to work, trickle in some powder and you better wait a little bit so it registers on the scale. otherwise you will over shoot the target weight in a hurry.

Hey Guys Im looking up a recipe for 45 acp, Ive got about 100 230gr. HP/XTP bullets here and Ive got this Universal Clays Tech. Powder.. Do they simply call this Clays Universal as it says in the book. ???
Because it also says HODGDON, I guess its just Clays Universal. Is this powder pretty clean burning? Is this stuff any good?
