Hey guys,
This is my new baby girl, a semi-custom Weatherby Mk. V Classicmark in 375 H&H Magnum.
Ya, she is a shooter! Don't think Douglas premium barrels don't work just fine!
I have replaced the Warne mounts with Talley lever QDs. I like the VX-III 1.75-6 scope ok, but I want another scope with bit more top end. Also, the Leupold has the heavy duplex, and I want a different reticle for North American and/or plains game hunting. I am considering the Z6i with 4-AI reticle and maybe the ballistic turret. Magnification range as yet undecided, but leaning 1.7-10x or 2-12x. She weighs about 10 lbs without optics. I intend to keep the VX-III scope as a back-up.
Has anyone tried a Z6 or Z6i on a 375 H&H? I'm looking for information to convince me the Swaro scope will tolerate 375 recoil - I think it will be ok but I have no experience with the Z6i. If not the Z6i how about the Zeiss Victory scopes? I'd really rather the Z6 though because of the wider field of view...
All experiences and opinions welcomed!
Good shooting!

Beautiful rifle!, I haven't any experience with the z6 swaro, but I also have the same 1.75-6 leo on my .375 and couldn't be happier!

No experience with the Z6 either but I do know that is one FINE looking rifle! I've also got the same VX-III on my 9.3x62. This season'll be the first I've hunted with either of them.

That is a BEAUTIFUL rifle, Texas! I wish all Weatherbys had the straight comb, slender, rounded forend, open grip stock profile. Nice wood too!
I imagine the Z6 would work fine on a .375. After all, Swaro makes a version of the Z6 (1-6X24) that is primarily intended for dangerous game rifles, and the higher magnification scopes share the same coil spring erector assy as it does. The advertised strength of the coil spring erector support on all 30mm tube Swaros is its supposed improved durability over the leaf spring design used on the 1" AV series. Swaro PH scopes have been used on big bore, hard kickers for decades. Ditto for Zeiss Diavaris.

Thanks for the compliments, fellas! Heck, the looks of this girl are what sucked me in, too... even better, she shoots just fine with the Leupold! I just need a little more magnification for my tired old eyes.

That is definitely one of the finest looking Mark V's I've ever seen.
The Swaro should work fine. But I would not hesitate to get an extra pair of Talley rings to have the Leo for back up. I have a similar situation with a .375 H&H. I have a Kahles 1.1-4x24 in 30mm Talley OD's. I keep my 1.5-5x20 VX-III in more Talley's as a back up. The Kahles may be fine but I know for a fact the Leo is a proven performer on heavy kickers. |

I have run a Diavari 3-12 on a hard-kicking 300WM and have a friend with a Z6 on his hard-kicking 300WM, I think either would be fine.

Hmmmm, 2.5-15x44. The FOV at 2.5x at 100 yards is almost 50 feet! Ya know, that could really work! I am going to call around tomorrow to see if I can find one of these scopes somewhere to go scout one out in person. If the size/weight of this scope doesn't mess up the lines and balance of the rifle I believe Mr. U may have a good point.
I really appreciate the compliments y'all are throwing at my new stick, too. I've seen the pictures of your rifles and I know the pieces y'all have are extremely high grade, too. Feels good to be in the good company of sympatico rifle loonies!

Well Tom we are glad you dropped by and hope you visit often. SWFA is as likely as anyone to have nice optics and has a best price guarantee. I've bought a number of scopes from them and they are good people to do business with. I would say be sure you call to see that an optic is in stock and have the sales people snag that one and get your name on it to ship to you because they have a lot of inventory come and go. Beside that they are located right under the X in Texas.

Good morning OT! Well, I dove in to the deepest end of the pool and took delivery yesterday of a Z6i 2.5-15 Ballistic Turret scope. I say deepest because I got the 56mm objective instead of the 44mm. After mounting a Kahles 3-12x56 MZ on the 375 to get an idea what it would look like with a scope that large, then comparing the Z6i 44mm and 56mm variations in person, I decided to go for max low-light capability because there just isn't that much difference between the two in appearance or weight. Or $$$$, for that matter... Unfortunately I could not get the Z6i from SWFA as I called them and they had none in stock. The girl said they were on order but she had no idea when they would arrive.
I have been playing with the new scope a lot last night and this morning, although it is not mounted yet. I'll get around to mounting it soon. I already have the 30mm Talley QR lever rings for it. I won't be shooting it this weekend, because it has been raining all week here and my range is a mud pit at the moment. (Very unusual for July in this part of Texas!) I have been comparing the Z6i glass to other scopes I have: the Kahles 3-12x56 CS MZ, a Kahles 3-12x56 CBX, a Kahles 4-12x52 CL and the VX-3 1.75-6x36. I also compared to a Vari-x III 3.5-10x44 and a Colorado Redfield 4-12x44AO, but those two old dogs are not really even in this hunt.
I am here to tell y'all now, the Z6i blows all the others away in any category I can see with my vision. I doubt I'll ever be truly happy with the other scopes again; nah, just kidding! The Kahles scopes are all great scopes and I like them very much - but the view through the Z6i looks visibly much better to my eyes.
After I get it mounted I will try to get some pics of the setup posted. I know the appearance will not be very traditional, but heck, I will display the 375 with the Leupold on it. I will be giving the Z6i a thorough ring-out at the range as I am just beginning to work up loads for the 375. I'll report the performance here, also. In the meantime, good-shooting to all!

Nice choice of scopes I look forward to seeing the photos up and running. Now that you know what you like remember you can always trade in those other scopes at SWFA toward a second or third Z6i you might need several.
