Is this any good. I found one really cheap. and yes I know that you get what you pay for. I just can't afford a really nice/expensive scope.

First off,WELCOME to OT!!
To me it wouldn't be worth the chance. It's not about what you can't afford,it's about whether that scope will even do what you need it to! In most cases a cheaper scope without high magnification and all the bells and whistles will at least work for you. How much can you spend, what are you scoping, and what kinda hunting/shooting will you be doing? Edited by 300S&W - July/23/2009 at 13:15 |

The Barska scopes make great paper weights. I have first hand knowledge.

I actually bought that scope or one close 6-20 X 50 AO around 6-7 years ago. (for a song)Last year I picked up a 17HMR, and guess whats on the 17? Yep. Long story short here, the Barska is pretty good out to 200 and if I don't go above 12X, after that things get a bit fuzzy even with the AO. It has been holding zero pretty good, by that I mean I have only had to rezero it twice out of 12-15 or so outtings and the most I've had to adjust was a inch or so back towards center. I will end up replacing it soon but I have to say it worked like I would expect a $40.00 scope to work.

I just bought one off e-bay for under 50. I'm not looking for something to kill the zombies when they attack. I just want to have some fun at the range and some varmint. Now it's time for finding some mounts to attach this sucker. I'm guessing that duct tape won't be so good.
Tnks 300S&W I plan on getting a much better optic when I can save up for one. I am still enjoying my Next Generation Arms AR15. Made here in Oregon.

Oh, what the heck, give it a try....I've had $50 bar tabs before and all I ended up with was a headache and some large woman's phone #.
