Isn't this sort of like putting a 4-barrel, 450 CFM, Holly carburator on a 1964 Volkswagon Bus?

Not sure I understand what that means :) I think a 4-12x50 may fit that analogy. This is a 1.25-4x24 with the red triangle, perfect for a quick shooting 35 Remington in the brush.

Your not taking it on a date! I can't understand why some guys will limit they're choice of optics based on how it looks on the firearm.
VERY GOOD set-up,Jw! Perfect! And CUTE to!!

I think it looks great. Great choice. I put a low powered variable on my .357 lever gun and really like it.

By all means put a Trijicon on a Marlin, if it works for you. I was just teasing you! Actually the concept of the illuminated triangle may be a good match for the Marlin. It just struck me initially as overkill on a short range typically so-so accurate rifle. No offense intended!

No offense taken! I was looking for a setup that would be very quick in the thick stuff with both eyes open and quick cycling without losing the sight picture. I also wanted longer range capability. I want all I can get when a boar has me in his sights. The 35 doesn't have enough recoil to significantly move me off target and the lever allows easier chambering of another round. One of my hunting partners stated it sounded like I was in full auto the last time I was being charged. Amazing what fear and adrenalin can do!
