Well went out hunting yotes with my fiance last night and we had a pretty fun night.  We called in one coyote and saw a whole bunch of elk.  Thought I would share some of the pics we took of the elk.

Some of the pics are from last year I think, in the same place.  We go up every year during this time and watch the bulls grow.  It is pretty fun.

Some of them are a bit blurry, I was shooting at 20x without a tripod on some of them so they are a little shaky.

Hey, that is really cool.Smile  Thank you for sharing.  Where I live all I get to see is chipmunks and squirrels.  Once in a while a moose shows up.  I need to get out west....

Nice ST!  The only time we see Rocky Mt. Elk  like that around here is in winter when the hills have exceptionally deep snow...Thats in Eastern WA. and OR. But out on the Coast its a different story, the Roosevelt Elk are prety thick,  If noone is bothering them they are like sheep wondering around..  I need to learn more about how download pics on here and show you some...

Those are great pictures, Thank You!

No, no big bull tag.  I will probably just buy a spike bull tag.  I have a bunch of points built up for a big bull tag, so hopefully one of these years I will get one.

Know the feeling of waiting to get enough preference points.  Got the sorry notice the other day so we will be waiting again.  In SD it takes about 7-8 preference points (7-8 years of sorry, try again next year) before chances get good that you will draw a tag.

As far as I know you just need to buy the elk tag from a utah license store or online.  For a non resident general spike elk tag it is $388.  That includes a fishing license.  Just don't be fooled by one of those tags that say any bull general season.  They put you in an area that has no elk.  lol.  I have tried that 3 times now and have only seen two cows and a calf for the 3 seasons I hunted.

I hunt in the Fishlake area.  The elk are never as plentiful and easy to find as they are now though.  Sometimes it is a tough hunt to get a kill.

Great pics. It's only late June and those racks are looking great already. You've got some dandy bulls up there. Thanks for sharing!

Really enjoyed the pictures. I was pleasantly surprised while driving home last night from fishing to see a small herd of cows and calves (lots of calves) grazing right off I-15. I'd never seen any there before although the general area holds elk. But this time of year that's not unusual. The whole afternoon was wildlife central. We didn't catch many fish (a few browns) but saw several whitetails, a pair of nesting cranes, hawks, swallows, a muley buck and a kajillion caddis flies.

Great picks ST.  Elk season starts here in a couple months for archery.  Those picks just got me fired up!  Thunbs Up
