Does anybody have experience with this scope or the other Super Slams? I just took delivery of a Sako 85 in .338 Federal and for the price, this scope's magnification range and specs appeal to me. It will give me a wide field of view at low power and the 10x will help with longish-range target shooting.
The gun is mainly for hunting deer and elk but I do have access to a friend's property where I can practice on targets at up to 600 yards. Any help will be appreciated...thanks!

Get a Bushnell 4200 Elite 3-9x40 or 2.5-10x40, Nikon 3-9x40 Primos or a Burris 2.5-10x40 Fullfield II, in my opinion these are the best values going today. Right now Burris has a deal where you get a Fullfield II and a good set of binos for the scope price and the Bushnell Elite 4200 3-9x40s are priced right too.

I returned my Super Slam, reason it just cost more than my 4200 & Zeiss Conquest.I found it hard to justify the extra cost for this scope. The glass is clear but I'm looking for a good value.I feel this scope should sell for around $250.Nice scope but the price tag is very high.

I know this is a couple months old but the last post by hunter12345 makes no sense at all and I'm curious about it.
From everything I've read up on the Weaver line for the past few months they are a better deal than almost any other scope line. Reviews, short observations, and multiple comparisons from all over the web show the Grand Slam scopes as being just as good if not better than the Bushnell 4200 series by people who actually try them....and usually $150-200 cheaper for the same thing. For the Super Slam to be worth only $250 (if it is a complete utter failure, worse than the Grand Slam and Classic Extreme) that would make a Bushnell 4200 worth about $150-200?? From what I've seen Weaver scopes in general, even the cheaper series of scopes, have had nothing but stories and reviews saying they are durable and have great, reliable adjustments, much better glass than the price suggests, etc.. A lot of scopes costing a good deal more have reports of mushy turrets, not standing up to recoil of magnum rifles, poor low light performance or loss of clarity past 12x mag etc. Anyway, on paper there are several nice improvements to the Super Slam series, look much better than Grand Slams in appearance for sure. The EBX reticle also looks better than the Nikon BDC, Bushnell D.O.A., Sightron HHR, etc. The Super Slam Tactical series looks like it will probably kick a lot of a$$ when released as well. |
