I was wondering if the new Leupolds have a more constant eye relief than previous models. I know the specs. look the same but I have read someones review where they said the eye relief stayed very close between power settings. Is this true or does it change that much from power to power?

I have not seen a new model yet, but I have read several "reviews" of various model VX3's and I don't recall seeing anyone stating that the eye relief fault has been taken care of as of yet. Knowing Leupold, it will be made known via some catchy new phrases before it hits the market.

I did the review.

I've tested two new 3.5-10x40's and in each one the eye relief varied .4 inch, from 3.4 to 3.8 inches, across the entire magnification range.  This about the same as several scopes that are advertised as "constant eye relief."

I haven't tested any other models.

I bought the FX3 6x42 so I cant really comment about changes in power but my eye relief remains constant. Jump and Spin

I have looked at 2.5-8x36 and 4.5-14x40 (spent more time with this one).  In both, the eye relief varied by about the same as amount as the VX-III and as Leupold's spec suggests.  Both changed by right around an inch, if memory serves me right, but I can check my notes.

I too have a 2.5-8 VX3 and it's quite variable (about .75 inch or so). To me that's not great, but otherwise the VX 3 is pretty nice.
