3_tens, I saw your post on Taking Chance.  Watched it last night.  I don't think I, or my family, has ever been so moved by a movie.  My wife started crying after the first five minutes and never stopped.  I choked up, myself.
I ALMOST had the honor, once... but it was a different time, different mindset and the mother refused to allow a "white boy to bring her son home", even though he was my roommate, my friend, my brother.
You are correct... every American should see this movie.  But not because they are required, because they want to out of love, honor, duty.
Opinion,untempered by fact,is ignorance.

A friend of mine told me about it and said that his wife also lasted about five minutes.
I haven't seen it yet, but I'll try to now. I've always thought that Kevin Bacon was a pretty good actor, anyway.

My father's brother Joe was killed in WWII in the Pacific battle of New Guinea, when the ship he was on was strafed by machinegun fire from a enemy aircraft. (Jap Zero, I think?)
He was brought home to Wisconsin and laid to rest in the family's Catholic cemetary with whatever military honors such times allowed, and my Dad always spoke reverently of the stoic Marine who accompanied him home.  "During the wake at the farmhouse he stood guard for hours and never moved an inch!"

To me it raised more emotion than Old Yeller, More patriotism than John Wayne, rolled together. This movie will never make the awards it deserves in todays Hollywood.

Surely not your average movie story line.  Good watch.  I suggest you rent it.  You will find it in the new release section of your local video rental place.

Wonder if Netflix has it.  Doesn't matter....I'll find it somewhere!
