OK, I am about to receive my new Pocket Rifle. For those of you in the dark, it is a Ruger 10/22, folding stock, 5.5" barrel, and suppressor. Intended for short range QUIET removal of pests.
What scope do you think would work best on it? Give the range (it will be firing 60 gr. Aguila SSS (Subsonic Sniper) rounds from a 1:9 twist barrel.
Effective range perhaps 50 yards (max 100 - and that is stretching it).
Would I be best suited with a simple red dot? I'd like some magnification for accurate placement of shots.
What would you suggest?

I have a Weaver RV7 on a 10/22 of mine. Those pesky black birds, and squirrels don't stand a chance around my house.

Weaver V3. I bought one for a friend a little while ago and got to use a bit. It is a very nice little scope.
As far as no magnification scopes go, I've got a Russian PK-AS with a Weaver mount that I am extremely impressed with. Sightron SR33 is not bad either. If you want a little more magnification Burris Fullfield II 1.75-5x20 should fit the bill just fine. Beyond that there is a host of decent 4x scopes available. I have a Burris 4x20 which is excellent. Sightron and IOR 4x32 are great also and there is a host of others. Then again, we've exchanged a few posts and you probably know what I can recommend here. An ultimate thing would be some sort of a low range variable, IMO. Weaver V3 and Burris are the cheapest of the decent ones, but there are quite a few others out there for more money. Just make sure that you can comfortably use it at a low mag setting with both eyes open and without headaches. Ilya |

Thanks, Koshkin - that might fit the bill, though having an illuminated reticle that also had a NV setting would be nice. But then I'm getting up into the high dollars. Choices, choices.

Sounds like a fun little rifle. Any quality low power optic should do fine. Lauer makes some excellent weapons, no recoil, very quiet, and more than accurated enough to do its intended job. I've heard good things about them but have yet to get my hands on one. Let us know how it turns out and post a photo.

I've heard it is a nice little scope, but have not tried it myself.
Let us now how it works.

Great choice!
I was impressed by the image quality that scope has to offer, for such a reasonable price.

They really aren't that expensive. Hopefully my paperwork will arrive soon so I can get everything done to it.
Got the Weaver scope - very nice! Optical clarity is quite good.
