How tight should flip covers be on the scope?? The specs on my scope says that it has an objective diameter of 1.8 inches and an eye diameter of 1.6 inches. I ordered a #14 eye(1.605") and a #25 objecive(1.800"). My objective scope cover was pretty hard to push onto the scope while my eye scope cover is too big for the scope. I guess I will try a #13(1.570") for my eye but I am wondering if too tight of a fit is a bad thing. Thanks.

What about a Vari-X III 3x9x40? What are the Butler Creek sizes, i.e. 4 & 7?

Do you maybe have a Vari-XII or a Vari-XI? Leupold didn't make a 3-9X40 in Vari-XIII. All vari-XIII's and this years VX-III's scopes begin in half numbers (3.5-10X40, 4.5-14X40). While all scopes under a Vari-XIII or VX-III classification start with whole numbers (3-9X40, 4-12X40).
The butler creek size info for "Vari" scopes was erased from our system after Leupold came out with these new models. I can tell you what the sizes are on a new VX-II. Those are 11eye and a 26 obj.
All of our "Vari" Leupold scopes that we have left are on the Sample list. |

I'm sorry, I meant a 4.5x14x40, and doesn't Butler Creek go by a numbering system from 1-12 or something? Either way, in your system is it still 11 and 26 or something different? Also, I have a LPS that is a 3.5x12x50 which caps fit that model and does it matter that hte eye objective is rubberized, i.e. will that make it harder to get a cap on?

Vari-XIII 4.5-14-40 takes an 11eye and a 30 obj.
The eyes start out at 01 and go up to 20. The objectives start out at 01 and go up to 63. Your correct about the rubber piece. Keep in mind the tighter it fits the better they will work. |

Your in the same boat as Raging bull. We dont have the sizes for the Vari-X models, but we can tell you the sizes for all VX models.
VX-II 3-9x50 takes a 11 eye and a 43 obj. Edited by Brady |
