Just had one pass within a few miles of my house.  Baseball and golfball sized hail for about 30 minutes.  Afraid to go out an look at my car... the garage is set up as a woodshop right now.  Completely knocked off a screen on an upstairs window.  No real damage.
NASTY weather...

I'll post a few pictures of some hail on the ground later, but it is melting pretty fast.  Photography is not my primary interest.  Sun is shining right now, but another "cell" is headed this way.

If this occurred in Alabama, it was just the vortex caused by me practicing my round house kicks on some punk's head.

Sorry about your house, boxer, but you may just have to learn to live somewhere else other than where I am when I open up a 55 gallon drum of whoop ass.

That's why I built the house so sturdy, Chuck.  I knew it was in your range.  I fixed the window screen, well pretty much, so no realy damage.  Looks like most of the hail missed my car.  Excellent control...

Storms have passed... for the time being.  As far as I can tell, two people were killed in Tennessee.  No significant damage in this area.  Prayers go out to those who lost family and friends.

Dan,

Glad everything is okay for you, but next time send them suckers north (not straight out I-20). I had golfball size hail also. it sucked.

We had another major storm last night.  At around 0030 I moved the family downstairs for easy access to my "safe room",  just in case.  A large tree limb, have not located the tree yet, flew into my car, probably causing several thousand dollars worth of damage.  I expect the hood will have to be replaced, right bumper straightened and most of the right side repainted.
A tree fell across my driveway and I had to remove it this morning.  A tree fell across power lines on my property and power was out until about 0900... went out about 0130.  My driveway suffered major washout due to the extremely heavy rains.  I have been chopping trees with an axe and sawing tree limbs since early this morning. Can now get in and out and finally got the last limb off power and phone lines... the sun just came out.  My estimate is winds were sustained 60mph for about 1.5hours, gusting to more than 90.  Didn't want to use the wind meter.  I live on the side of a mountain and sometimes the wind funnels through here.  It gets a lot more violent than in the lower lying areas.
Quite a night.

2nd that.  Property damage sucks, but at least you and your family did not get hurt.

thank you.
We are pretty secure on the first floor... poured concrete walls, 2nd floor is constructed with metal beams set into the concrete at 10 feet with 1.5 inches of plywood triple screwed into the beams.  I've still not found where the limb came from that hit my car, though.  I just got finished cleaning up all the limbs scattered over the yard... pretty sure a tornado came close.  The wind was high and sustained, but I have never seen just a wind carry that much stuff.  Could have, I guess.
Yep, we are very fortunate.

Dan, sorry to hear about your troubles.  We lost a few limbs and power, but nothing that bad.  Glad to hear Y'all are OK! Smashed cars can be fixed, people on the other had don't really do well getting smashed, going back to the manufacturer is not an enjoyable option.

Well, it looks like the rains are never going to give me time to completely repair my driveway and/or cut up all the downed trees.  Man, I'm probably going to have about 20 cords of firewood... after I build my smokehouse.  We are due for rain today, tomorrow, most of next week and the week after.
The good news... the drought was officially over last week and we were 3inches ahead of the yearly average.  Much more now.
