Hi, I'm new to the forum. I recently purchased this Savage VLP stainless in the .243 cal.
http://www.savagearms.com/12Varminter.htm I have this question: What color scope/mounts would you put on this rifle? Black or Silver? ty, maori |

I would go to a shop that sells ring and visually compare the two. Personall, I would probably go with the stainless if there was a reasonable color match.

It's really tough to match stainless finishes, I would recommend black scope and rings, it looks good, in my opinion.
I would not recommend buying a scope and/or rings purely because the color of the tube and/or rings matches the color of the barrel. |

Welcome to Optics Talk.
Keep the rings the same color as the scope. Matte on matte or stainless on stainless. I commend your choice of rifle and caliber. Those are really nice rifles. |

Black matte rings and scope no need to make it more reflective than it already is and you might even want to wrap the gun in camo when hunting it to prevent reflections showing movement.
