Saw these at a show really low priced. Thought of getting
one to put on 22 rimfire for shooting steel between 25 and
100 yards. Anybody tried one? tks.

Remember you get what you pay for and dont expect too much performance out of these. But for a .22 cal on these ranges and if light is not a big issue you wont go wrong with this scope, especially if you get em cheap.

Do you need 24X for a 100-yard shot?

I have not tried one, but as a general rule, .22LRs don't need 24X scopes.  My .22 wears a 4X and it has served me very well.  Consider something with lower power and better glass.

Picked it up for $65.00 and did not expect Zeiss quality. It's not a bad scope and up to 16X is good and clear. As pointed out, a 24x on a 22 is overkill, so I'll not use it up that high. With low rings on my TC 22, I had to take off the rear sight but it does clear by about 1/16". The rifle would shoot 1&1/4" 5 shot groups with Aquillia (?) standard velocity ammo at 100 and a 4X scope so I hope a few more "Xs" will shrink that a bit. I really like the TC 22 and think "Rugermania" has sort of put it in the background. Pictures below. tks. for you advice.

It should be servicable.

Have fun with it.
