For your price point and having a fine duplex, the Leupold fits the bill. http://www.swfa.com/pc-3620-100-leupold-4x28-fx-i-rimfire-riflescope.aspx

That is where the thin duplex reticles can cause problems. I prefer the standard duplex for hitting raccoons and opossums. This is usually after dark and with a light, like Ed says. In marginal light the fine is tough to use.
The Weaver should be better for low light. http://www.swfa.com/pc-2343-257-weaver-4x28-classic-rimfire-rifle-scope.aspx |

I like the Weaver classic rimfire. Or better yet (if you can find one) the classic shotgun scope.

Little more than the price range you mentioned but it's a good deal on a real good scope !!

I thought I would throw in a curve
I have a Nikon Pro-staff 2x7 on my old remington Pump works great
Paid around 200 for it. 2x on cans etc and 7 when I need it
Have played with the BSA Sweet 22 3x9 on a ruger 10-22 that has been moded to hell and the BDC works with CCI mini mags from 50 to 100 but some have had issues with theirs. Mine is fine and a lot of fun around 150. Ruger is a silouette gun

We measure it with a micrometer, mark it with a crayon, and cut it with a chainsaw.
