Two scenarios - IF we keep going in the direction we are heading, the energy companies will be run by the government, we'll be told how far we can drive every week, and what kind of vehicle we can drive. We'll be told what to set our thermostats at and when to turn our lights off and on. Healthcare will be socialistic, and everyone who can afford it will be going to India for health care. There will be a huge unemployed segment, because there will be no incentive for profit. In short, America will no longer be the greatest nation on earth. Scenario Two - We come to our senses and look at what has made this country great; freedom, and the love of it; and opportunity. People will regain control of their lives and have reason to proper. Temperatures and sea levels will not be significantly different than they are now (there is no scientific evidence that they will be). Scientists in need of grant funds will be warning of the coming Ice Age (like they were 25 years ago). Hopefully, we will be more energy efficient; it really is stupid to waste it, but there will not be shortages. I guess there is a third scenario, and it's the best - Jesus will have come again and I will not be concerned at all with any of the above

Its the year 2025. Helped by stem cells, genetics, and biochemical research, we have cures and treatments for Parkinson's, most cancers, and we can re-grow lost limbs. Transplant organs are commonly grown in a laboratory.
Education is widespread around the world, helped by the spread of Internet and satellites. With greater education, knowledge, and science, the world's population solves more problems.
We understand insects better, and design crops, plants, and agricultural systems that no longer require use of the 1.5 Billion pounds of toxic insecticides used annualy in the 2000s.
Most people understand that use of fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides on lawns causes degraded waters, cancers, tumors, and birth defects.
Condoms and contraceptives are widely distributed in American High Schools and Catholic Churches.
Ed makes a gadzillion dollars selling umbrellas (global warming) and DEET (spreading mosquitoes).
Sarah passes away forgotten by everyone, while giving birth to her 29th autistic child.

Its the year 2025. After centuries of trying, scietists declare that there is no cure for baldness, but there is psychological counselling. They also suggest using Viagra, invented since the 1990s.
Goat herders use satelite imagery, remote sensing, GPS and satelite collars, and genetic engineering, to prevent Ed's goats from munching on the last remaining Texas Bluebonnets.

In the year 2025, the Supreme Court dismissed the 80,000th request from the American people to see Obama's birth certificate.

Its the year 2025. "The nations were angry; and your wrath has come. The time has come for judging the dead, and for rewarding your servants the prophets and your saints and those who reverence your name, both small and great— and for destroying those who destroy the earth." Revelation 11: 17-19.
Those of you who are religious and wait for Jesus to solve your problems or help you escape them: don't you think that this is a bit unfair, to try to escape your own responsibilities? What if Jesus himself does come and judges your for not paying heed to what you did to God's Creation? What if he says "God made polar bears and you caused them to go extinct, and God made 10,000 kinds of birds you destroyed most of them?"

Anweis,
I think that went a little too far. I know very few people, that you have labeled "religious", that are sitting idley by waiting for Jesus to solve the worlds problems. Most of them go to work everyday working to help solve some of the worlds problems. If more people lived by the lessons that are taught in ______ (insert which religious text you want), the world, and even the health of the environment would be a much better place.
