I was looking for a good deal on the Sample List and couldn't help but notice that there are a TON of Leupolds there and I wonder why that is?

They are very nice scopes with a great warranty, right? I'm not knocking them since I.ve never owned one (and would like to at some point).

So why are there so many there?

I think it all depends on what they have in at the moment....I could be wrong on this but the sample list is always changing I wouldn't look at it as a sign Leupold's are not a good scope

Could be something as simple as Leupold miscalculated their sales volume and the impact of the new product offerings? Still a great scope IMO.

Devil  yea right.   Quite simple most people have confidence in Leupold products and they sell, they work, and they retain their value the list changes constantly and SWFA does a lot of business and works really hard to be able to find good values for their customers. We often see scopes listed on samplelist that are heavily discounted like the ones SWFA used to take photos of to add the new VX3 photos to the web site. They cut the box open photographed the scope and replaced it in the packaging and as a result you get a huge bargain.  The only way anyone selling any gun related item has miscalculated recently is not producing enough to meet the expanded sales volume demand.

As I said, I wasn't "knocking" Leupolds. I wish I could afford one. I was just curious.

Actually, my point was that people may have  held back from purchasing the VX I, II, III, scopes until they had a chance to review the new series or  consider the discounts being offered for the discontinued lines. Either dynamic could create a temporary surplus. I have no idea if scope sales are up or down.  I have read fairly contradictory reports on firearm sales. Low and middle priced pistol sales are up, high end pistols are down. Personal defense and assault rifles are up, hunting rifle sales, except for the low end models, are flat or slightly down.

Not here... our largest area dealer is finding it difficult to keep pace with the demand for any type of firearm and is selling out of ALL ammo.  Recently went to one of the large custom reloaders and purchased EVERYTHING they had loaded ammo, brass, powder, bullets, primers... not nearly enough.

I'm reluctant to go to the range because I have to conserve ammo...

Nikon & Leupold have a huge inventory and over stock. You sometimes find a real bargain on Nikons but rarely the Leupolds.
