I just got a Zeiss Conquest 3.5x10x50. Do you think it is a tough
enough of a scope to handle the recoil of a 16# bolt action 50 bmg
rifle?
Anyone? |

I had a 3.5-10x44mm Conquest that puked on a .300 Win Mag. That said, Zeiss cheerfully replaced it. All scope brands have failed, some more than others, but they all have their lemons.

I would put a very tough fixed 10X on a .50cal.

A fixed 10X scope is what most .50BMG shooters use for shooting out to 1000 yards +. I believe Swarovski makes a really nice 10X scope specifically for .50 cal guns. I would probably go with something more than a Zeiss Conquest on a rifle that big.

Or save some money and buy a 10x42 Super Sniper.
New Burrs Xtreme 10x scope should be pretty nice also, but I have not seen it yet. Ilya |

Already have a Tasco 20X SS on my 50. It already puked out once
and went in for repairs. I don't really trust that it won't die
out again.
Am actually seeing some "glass flects" inside the scope. |

Something must have been wrong with your SS because too many people have had too much success with the SS on .50's and othe heavy calibers .300winmag, .338 Lapua and such (Including me but on a .308). I'd send the scope back to Chris at SWFA and get a new one becasuse that scope shouldn't have done that. Tasco is no longer associated with the SS. SWFA is the only one who has them.
I'm assuming you have a break or ported barrel right? Pretty stocky rings? Could be a stupid question but I'm interested in what happened.

Had two Tasco SS poop out on me via the 50 bmg.
First was a 20X on a Serbu BFG (bout 25 pounds), IOR valdada heavy duty rings. The lens inside the scope must have come loose as I could see it moving inside the scope. Second was a 20X also, on a UltraMag50 (bout 17 pounds), same rings. Something happened as I definitely see scope flecks inside the body. Who is handeling repairs now for the SS? Thought bushnell was doing it. |

Bushnell is correct. Send them your scope and a copy of your receipt, and they will help you! If you can't do that give us a call. We will see what we can do at this end!!
