Hello I have just bought a Remington 700 CDL-SF in a 257 Weatherby Mag.I now need to buy a scope for it.It will be used mainly for deer hunting, occasionally a groundhog. I have a limit of about 650.00. I will admit in not that big of a Leupold fan.I think there over priced.
My cousins black diamond is 3 times the scope my friends vx III is and was cheaper.
I am considering the Zeiss Conquest,Sightron big sky maybe the elite 6500,Ive also even thought lately about the Kahles KX 3x9x42 but since bottom of the line not sure about it.
Alos thought about a MeOpta To you all what would be a good scope for this amount

Are you trying to stay in the 3-9x42 range ?
Conquest is hard to beat IMO. A KX is probably better but I would choose a Conquest right now due to the warranty and resale aspects. If I had $650 and your gun........probably think about http://www.swfa.com/pc-9790-259-zeiss-3-9x40-conquest-rifle-scope.aspx
Doubt your interested (kinda low powered for a long range gun like yours)but there is a heck of a deal going on right now on Conquests in 1.8-5.5x38 and the fixed 4x32's .......both are for $299 right now !

I would also vote for the Conquest. A very fine scope in that price range.

Alot of nice scopes to choose from in this price range, zeiss, nikon, burris, leupold, bushnell, sightron and so-forth. All of these scopes in the $500.00 price range offer what I believe the best bang for your buck, not a looser in this group.

That's exactly what I'd put on it. Maybe I'll buy one............just to have it.

The Kahles would be no slouch, I assure you. You would want to compare the two side by side if at all possible. I like the reticle in the Zeiss, that's why it gets my vote. If you intend to shoot that Weatherby caliber at range, that would be my pick. From a purely optical standpoint, the Kahles probably a touch better, but don't quote me on it.

I agree that all you've mentioned are a good choice but if it were me I'd get this.
It's not only a fine scope for the price but will also look great on your rifle.

You can find a nice scope for that money. You can buy a Zeiss Conquest or a Sightron Big Sky.l have both scopes I prefer the Sightron, slight edge in low light and has the climate control which prevents fogging .

Considering that it is for a 257 Weatherby with a stainless, fluted barrel:
Burris Fullfield II, 6.5-20X50, nickel.
Or a Burris Black Diamond, Bushnell 4200, or Nikon Monarch, in a 4-16X50.

Since you posted that you also will be doing some varmit hunting I thought that the 2.5-16x magnification range would work well for your applications. The scope is also only 17 oz, has raingaurd and resettable turret knobs. I don't believe that any of the other rifle scopes mentioned can claim that. As far as price is concerned I can't advise you. I got mine for $480. It is an excellent scope.
