No SD,it's a .270 Winchester. I put it together with parts mostly that my SIL gave me,except for the stock and bottom metal. His dad has worked for WINCHESTER FOR 40+ YRS. If ya notice it's got a SS bolt in a blued action.

Nice.  I though it was just the sheen of the bluing reflecting from the flash.

I was not strictly a .270 guy anyway, and have a .300 win. here already. I have to plug the .270 though, just cause pyro likes it.

Trigger, I like 200gr. bullets for the 300 mags and is my main reason for owning one, high  SD. and BC.

Well, I may be getting dialed in with this thing. The bottom of this target is three fouling shots, which were all different charge weights to check for pressure signs. the top is the next three shots, which was a test for a load that has been shooting good. This is the third test for this load, and none has shot over 1/2" yet..........this of course is the best of the three groups...........who posts the worst group?Big Smile

Nice shooting, Jason.  All that data helps.

Whoa! easy fellas. It is a great group, unfortunately I need to test it further to make sure it will continue to shoot like that. It's just one of those things, when you shoot one like that, you have to put it up for someone to see.

That is really nice Trigger. Hope your load keeps doing this for you. I would be happy with that and not ask for a new barrel!

I figure I'll shoot it for about 2000 rounds until it stops shooting good, then ask for a new barrel.

Great job, Jason!!!  Looks like you're getting her dialed in!

Keep in mind one thing though... 3 shot groups are useful for zeroing and verifying the zero of a rifle.  They may be a true indicator of your rifle's accuracy potential, but often don't tell you what you need to know about true repeatability.  To really see how your rifle shoots, you'd need at least 5 shot groups to give you good statistical data.  I would anticipate you'd still have very good 5 shot groups with that load, but it will give you a more realistic idea of your rifle's true accuracy potential.

I just went and loaded up 12 more. Since my brass is so limited right now, (I only have 15 empty) I was shooting 3 shot groups of each, and shooting the promising ones again. This one shot good all three times, so I took the 12 cases I shot the last time out, and loaded them all the same this time. I'll shoot them all this time, and see how they all shoot together. So far this load has shot well with a 20 degree swing in temp, and through a dirty and clean barrel. We'll see if it can hold up to bigger groups. I'm sure it will take a while to shoot them though. This thing is warm enough for me after 3 shots. I don't like hot barrels. This being just a #2 contour, and fluted, it warms up pretty fast.
