im planning on mounting this...
On this..
and i was wondering if the silver on the conquest would match with a stainless rifle.  so if you've seen one of these mounted on a rifle with a stainless barrel tell me if it looked decent. Thanks

To my eye, the stainless of the barrel seems a little brighter than the scope.  That being said, I think the scope you picked matches the color scheme of the rifle well.  The only other stainless scope that would look good on that gun is the Weaver GS , for the same reason.  Black caps, eyepiece rings black works well.

I do have one question, is this going to be a hunter primarily, or just a range gun?  My favorite color is chrome, so I get the appeal of stainless, but, IMHO, stainless is more hindrance than it's worth in the field.  For example, a good friend I hunt with occasionally, saw a used stainless scope at our local gun shop.  He fell hard and fast in love, just had to have it.  Looked awkward on his blued rifle, but whatever makes him happy, right?  We hunt his woods, so acted a little jealous to make him happy.  I could pick him out wherever he was from 150 yds.  He didn't see a deer all season.  Switched it to his ml for second season, same results.

My long-winded point is, that rifle will look just as good with a matte black conquest.  You would still be within you color scheme, too.  A decent matte coating on that barrel would look good, too, and add to the stealth of the gun while retaining the benefits of the stainless corrosion resistance.

Yes it is a hunting rifle, its a 300WSM i wouldnt like to shoot that think at the range all day. but im still deciding on the silver one or the matte one. but i would get the silver one if it would look good.

None of the silver scopes match exactly some are close some are real bad ,the same for rings and bases they are close enough to still look good if that's what you like, Ive done it twice and was happy both times?   Big Smile

the gun companies stainless finishes all vary just as the scopes do no two are the same.

Scott What bases did you use on ths rifle? I sarted to use the leup one piece on my 300 win mag but it covers about 1/3 of the ejection port.

Sorry for the broken record harping, but Zeiss recommends NOT mounting 1-inch tube scopes on magnum rifles.

Also, as said above, almost no one's stainless exactly matches anyone else's stainless.

If Bushnell still does silver go with a 4200 or a Leupold  vxIII all these scopes are really nice.

Does it have to be stainless?

I've done and seen stainless guns with black scopes, it doesn't look bad!

Rancid where did you read or who told you that Zeiss doesn't recommend 1" tubes on magnum rifles?
