Horsemany I happen to be a professional painter of many types and aspects I would gladly fix your cap for you but the shipping alone would make it un justifiable,so there for just get a sharpi or some satin black paint and do her up, it cant get any worse this really sucks. I know how you feel . sorry dude! Edited by rifle looney - February/27/2009 at 16:00 |

Thanks for the tip! The Sharpie made it look a lot better. It's looking pretty good now and I'll wait and see if they send a replacement anyway. Thanks for the offer to fix too. Generosity like that is what makes this my favorite forum.

We'll see what the rest of the scope is like. So far it looks OK optically. Next week I'll shoot some box tests with it. This is just going on a spare bench gun so it doesn't have to be a Schmidt & Bender to suit my needs.
For right now I've noticed it's got a much more forgiving eyebox and bigger fov compared to the VX III Long Range models I have. Very crisp, audible clicks. I just wish there were more of them(only 30" elevation).

If I find something I want on sale somewhere else I try to run it past Brady to see if SWFA can do the same or better. In only one instance they couldnt do same or better cause they had already sold all of the package deal the month before, so I just lived without it. SWFA is where I want my optics to come from. I really wouldnt mind seeing SWFA sell LaRue mounts though if it were possible.

Me, too. If I found something that I wanted I would check with Chris to see if he could get one. I would even check with Chris to see if he could get something that he doesn't normally carry....just because he's my buddy. [ BIG a** kissing here.... ]. You never know. He could always ( maybe ) round one up somewhere ( from R_MS !! ) and be able to provide it for us!!! But I would always give Chris first chance----even if I wanted a COMPETITOR scope.
But, mostly I am too broke---- but all that will all change one day!!!

Horsemany,
Nikon saw this thread and asked me to post on their behalf (seems that their legal department does not like Nikon employees posting on public forums).
Before I get to their message let me tell you that Nikon prides its self in offering quality products that under go multiple levels of inspection so that you don't ever have to use their customer service. They boast one of the industries lowest return rates (by a large margin).
Nikon would like to apologize first for the oversight on the scratched turret cover and for the customer service representative asking you to return the entire scope, which should not have happened. To make things right they would like to send you a new turret cap. Just PM me your details and I will forward them direct to Nikon.

Someone at Nikon actually reads the forum? That is good to know. Are they making a concerted effort to improve customer service?
It used to be uniformly horrible in the past, but now there seems to be some change for the better although it is still hit and miss sometimes. ILya |
