Just got a Nikon Monarch 6-24x50 yesterday. They come with tall target turrets and taller caps. One of the caps was all scratched up with paint missing in one spot. So this morning I called and explained it to a customer service rep. She said I can either take the whole scope back(which is already mounted and perfect other than one turret cap) or I can buy a new cap for $10.25 + shipping. I said..."so I either send back the whole scope or buy another part because the one you sold me is faulty?". SHe put me on hold, talked to her manager and came back saying they wouldn't charge me shipping. I told her I'd call back if I needed it. That's terrible customer service IMO. I'm not sending back the scope. I spent 2 hours mounting it before I broke open the blister pack to put on the target turrets.
I'm not shipping it back, and I'm not paying more money for their poor quality control. Just gonna sit and pout.

does it effect the performance of the scope?? you should know by now that nikons cs dept has a bad rap here, you have been a member long enough i would think you should be aware of that.

I'm not surprised...... I'm dissapointed. No a scratched up cap does not affect the performance of the scope. In fact if I didn't want a new looking scope I would've bought a used one. I wouldn't be too bothered by the scratches but the bright aluminum where the paint is missing in gonna (*$$ me off every time I look at it. Just an FYI for anyone who cares. Apparently you don't.

I would mail only the scope cap back to them with a letter saying how disappointed you were when you opened the package to find it in that condition. I would not even refrence the phone call. They will fix it they are just being lazy at this point. Once it is in hand they can actually see that it is not user caused damage it it a factory defect. Depending on where you bought it you might be able to get some help from the dealer.

It was factory wrapped so it wasn't like anyone knew one of the caps was bad. If I pay $10 for the cap I'll be almost $200 under retail. I didn't get smoked.
For what it's worth I do buy from SWFA and have several shooting buddies who bought from SWFA after my recommendation. Edited by Horsemany - February/27/2009 at 12:36 |

Hm,I'd be tempted to do what was suggested earliar, sending the cap only back to Nikon, but I'd be concerned about not getting ANYTHING back. And it's worth ALOT that you buy from and refer people to SWFA. They MORE than APPRECIATE it. |

The vendor I bought it from is going to try contacting Nikon for a replacement cap. They have offered to exchange the entire scope which is not necessary. I'll just buy a new cap before I do that.
I've been telling friends about SWFA since 2003 when I discovered them. I just don't buy everything from them.

I won't hold that against you forever, just until you start buying everything from us.
As an authorized dealer we are dictated at what price to advertise, but when you buy from an authorized dealer you know you are getting new authentic products with full warranties. There is a reason why some companies are not authorized.
Like I mentioned we have a 110% Low Price Guarantee and if you find a deal better than what we have run it past me before you buy elsewhere. I hate to lose a sale solely based on money. We offer great service, fast shipping and we supply you a place to hang out with friends and discuss optics. These things have value too.

i just am so impressed with swfa's willingness to work with its customers in so many ways. i ordered a set of rings for a rifle last fall and i ordered the wrong ones. i called swfa the next day and told them what was up and they sent me the correct ones without charge before i had even repackaged the incorrect ones to send back. i had the new rings before they had the wrong ones. sometimes cheaper prices arent all that.
