we use stream lights at the station, i use a led on my helmet, its great for smokey houses, but its terrible in those in between areas, where its only kinda dark, a regular halogen bulb flashlight is better in those cases.
the streamlight fire boxes are 80000 candle power. Edited by pyro6999 - February/23/2009 at 13:18 |

I use SureFire and MagLites. I love the MagLites 6 d cells, for certain apps. They make excellent attitude adjustment tools when needed.

New Surefire L1 digital Lumamax.
I had a Fenix that was touted as better than Surefires, but the switch croaked out after a year. I replaced it with the Surefire above at 3 times the cost, and I don't regret a penny of it. I use a flashlight every day, and this is by far the best I've ever seen in it's class.
I've had the same battery in it for the past six weeks and it appears as bright as ever. The beam is flat, with no holes in it, and when you get used to that, Maglights really come up short.
I'll never fail to carry a good light every day from here on out. It's become as indespensable to me as a pocketknife. (Spyderco Endura)

My 2 primary hunting flashlights are:
1. Surefire A2 Aviator digital Xenon / LED combination with blue LEDs. Very tough, well-made flashlight and the blue LEDs help with blood trailing. 2. Inova X0 3-Watt Luxeon LED -- amazingly bright for a compact LED flashlight! With an 82 lumen output, this light is much brighter than the Surefire's 50 lumen Xenon bulb, with longer run time! As a comparison, the average 3 D-Cell Mag Light puts out about 25 lumens. Like the Surefire, it has a tough hard anodized, machined aluminum case. I also have a Princeton Tech 3 LED headband style light for hands-free navigating through the woods at night and several Mag Lights in various configurations. |

Soooo these are obsolete? What about these... You could have one in any color for blood trailing, one for reading, one for raving, and even one to show your pride ~. |

Nice toys, Ted! How do you like that Princeton headband light? I need to replace whatever it is that I have with a good one that's not too bulky or heavy. I'd be happy with a wide, solid beam of 30 to maybe 60 lumens. Haven't really shopped around yet.
