Max for a .223 WSSM is 4300 w/40gr according to Hodgdon. Even if he is using a REALLY light bullet would it stabilize with a std twist?

Okay, I was thinking .223 Rem.
I didn't think the .223 WSSM was that fast though. DANG! That's moving!

Can that even be done with a 22-250??? That sounds awful fast for a 223.

Hodgdon shows both the Swift and .22-250 at just over 4200.

That is a great site, the safari pics and videos are amazing, but those guys are NUTZ.
I don't think I could ever trust the loading data on that site.
Check out the Chimp- bitten guy in the one photo, in light of the recent chimp attack stories.
Haven't been there for a long time, hope it's still there.

I'm only getting 4,150 with varget and a 36 gr. Varmint Grenade from a .22-250. Doing 200 fps more with a .223 is pretty extreme unless it's with an un-bulleted coper gas check! |

Alliant listed a 40 gr in the 223 at close to 4000, but that was in a WSSM. In the 223 Rem, I could find anything that close.
Edited to correct information. Sorry! Edited by helo18 - February/19/2009 at 21:31 |
