I picked up a Remington Model 5 .22LR on sale recently and I'm trying to find a decent scope for it. For what I want to use it for, I'm thinking an old fixed power Weaver K6 would suit me just fine. However, on several auction sites these go for as much or more than what SWFA is selling the Weaver Classic 6x38 for. My initial downfall is the newer scopes are matte finish and probably made in China versus the older Weavers made in the US. For the same money, are there any advantages in coatings, clarity, etc., with the newer scopes? Thanks.

The Weavers are made in Japan(at least my two GS's were). Absolutely nothing wrong with the new Classics and they are one of the better deals out there. The old Weavers are good(I've got four)but the days of having them refurbished at a decent price are gone. In fact I had a K6 that WSRS couldn't redo because of the inavailability of some parts.
