As some of you know my luck has been, well, interesting. The Elite 4200 with a loose reticle is still being held captive by Bushnell. It's been a month. The Zeiss conquest that was poop from the beginning was promptly replaced within 10 days by Zeiss. Zeiss was was great to deal with.

I also had exceptionally good CS from Zeiss on a failed Conquest.
As an aside, the lady I talked to @ Zeiss sounded WAY HOT too.
Sure beat the hell out of calling IOR and speaking with "Val", I can assure you all of that.

My friend had a Leupold vx ii that developed a 4" point of impact shift, he returned it to leupold at the end of September and got it back in 2-3 weeks. They say it was an internal problem with the scope and fixed it (sorry can't remember exactly what problem was). When he got it back it did the same thing. He returned it at the end of October and still has not got it back. He spoke with the service dept manager in mid November who said it had been rebuilt and they were going to check it on one of their rifles to make sure the problem has been resolved. He hasn't called the since because he is type, as he puts it, "if its not fixed next time I will run over with my truck and throw it away" |

I sent a new VX II 2-7 back in Nov 2007 to Leupy to "fix" the power ring.. The only way to change magnification was with a pair of channel locks and a cloth over the ring to prevent marring ..It was for my 13 yr old's model 70, and proved useless as it was. We got it back in about 6 weeks , and it was at best just a smidge better. I gave it to my Dad for his 30/30, and now a year later, he can't budge it ( and it has maybe seen 5 rounds ).. So- back to Leupold it has gone , and 5 weeks later- they haven't looked at yet. They hope to get to it in mid-Feb ...
Still - not quite as bad as the experience I had w/Nikon, but it's not over yet. Edited by martin3175 - February/01/2009 at 10:56 |

I had a similiar experience. Sent a scope from South Africa with a 4 month turn about. (Did get stuck in RSA for 1 month). I was concerned about the parallax and also wanted it to be adjusted to 200 yds. .
The scope had a scratch on the main tube and a ding on the ocular housing, which I thought they would repair.
The scope came back exactly as forwarded. I doubt they did anything other then check out the parallax (maybe). They did not re adjust it as requested, nor repair the scratch or ding.
Edited : The scope I refer to is a Leupold 3,5 -10x40 Edited by 8shots - February/02/2009 at 07:14 |

In South Africa most hunters favour the Lynx scope. Very good value for money.
Their service dept is excellent. I returned a scope to have a duplex reticule fitted to replace the post type reticule. They did it at no cost to me.
On all repairs they refurbish any dings, scratches etc and the scope comes back as new.
A friend stuffed a scope up (Lynx), and they fixed it free of costs.

They are made in Japan and have a strong following in South Africa and Australia.
Here is a link http://www.lynx.co.za/
They retail at less then half of Leupolds price.

Interesting looking. I found your previous post on them. They seem to have some variety. Would be nice to play with one someday. You should give us a review of yours...

I have always thought that they [ Lynx scopes ] were the spitting image of Sightrons!! They sure look like it. I have a pair of Lynx binoculars that I bought in South Africa back in the 80s. Little tiny 8X21 shirt pocket-sized ones!!
I'd like to see the Lynx scopes----but I think in America we could just buy a Sightron and get the same thing.

+1 Ed,but Lynx offers a variety of reticles and as far as I know Sightron doesn't. I'd REALLY like a different one in my SII 1.5-6x42!

The Lynx do offer a variety of reticules. The glass is as good as need be for South African sunny skies. I have a Lynx 3-9x40 Professional. The glass is as good as my Leupold. I do however find the dials on the Lynx a bit mushy and not as positive as on the Leupold. It holds point of aim and adjusts correctly.
So at the price it remains excellent value for money. In fact the price may be the distracting thing, as the old adage of you-get-what-you-pay-for makes me wonder what is wrong with it?

I have found that sometimes the lower priced scopes are not as bad as press would have it. I have a couple that are seriously maligned but perform quite well for me. Great to see there are still some deals around that really are.

What did your friend stuff the Lynx up or into? Not sure I should be asking 8 a question like that, but I'm a little curious!
