Super Snipers are rated .50 cal okay. Lots of them used on .50 cal rifles and they have good results with them.

Go with a Super Sniper 16x42 or a 20x42 and invest the the other $200 all on mounts! Like these Badger Rings. The Super Sniper will hold up to a .50 cal. No other scope under $500 will do the job like a Super Sniper. If you do a quick search on google there are plenty of write up of people from all over the U.S. to back it up.

If you can't see spending atleast 1500.00 dollars on scope and rings, then you are left with really no other choice. CFII has listed exactly what you need.

Super Sniper!
I have seen a .50cal break a Zeiss Conquest, so don't go that route, or anything else with a 1" tube.

If a fixed power works for you, the Super Sniper is the best deal going.
You might consider that on the samplelist is an IOR 2-12 tactical(which will give you as much high end as you need, I think) for an outstanding price. Almost unbeatable one might say. Just something to consider.

Just curious how you came up with the 18 power requirement. I have owned a 20x Super Sniper and traded it on a 10x so I would suggest you compromise at the 16x Super Sniper with Badger Ordnance Max 50 rings. CF II is on the right track --- go figure.

My recommendation, get a 10X, brighter, just as solid, 10X is fine for long-range, assuming the shooter does his part.

I had a SS 10x on my Serbu .50 BMG. I prefer the 10x because it is a bit brighter. Depends how far you plan to shoot. If up to a mile than the 10x may not be so good. For 1000 yds though 10x is more than enough.
