Gentlemen

Im looking for a place to buy .243 caliber ammo in Bulk for practice and deer hunting. Cabelas had a good deal 100pc Winchester .243 for 95$ but are sold out. Others Ive found mostly sell it by the box (20pc).  Id prefer to shop from a respectable online seller.

I hope its OK to post my question here. Anyone out there have the magic answer for me??

Many thanks for your time. Smile

+1

It's a little costly to get into, but it balances out if you shoot a lot.  Plus it gives you something to do when you can't hunt/shoot.

and for me any ways there is a great sense of accomplishment when you shoot a great group and kill some food with something you made. awesome feeling!

+1 again, I forgot that part...that's probably the best reason to reload.

You can also tune a load for a specific rifle or make reduced loads to introduce recoil sensitive people to the wonderful world of shooting.  Another one of my favorite things about reloading is that you can create loads that are not available in factory form - ie, I load hornady interbonds for a 7mm RSAUM.

I'm like you on this one, I have some pretty odd ducks myself, and others I just simply can't afford to shoot factory ammo through, ie. .50BMG, .300 Ultra Mag, .300 Whisper, and the list goes on and on... Big Smile
Other than the cost though the biggest reason I got started reloading is because of the improved accuratcy I could acheive by personallizing my loads to individual rifles.
My two .243's each have there own preferences in loads, my 700BDL prefers 107gr Hornandy V-Max bullets, while my Rem 788 prefers 75gr Seirra bullets.

As for the .300 Whisper... eer seen factory loads for that round! I haven't, but I still like the caliber, I load heavy bullets to slow the bullet down to the Sub Sonic range for shooting suppressed and use lighter bullets when shooting without the suppressor.

Over all Re-Loading is a very rewarding hobby to get into, it cost a bit to buy the initial equipment, BUT... it don't take many reloads to cover your initial expense of setting up to reload and it is a enjoyable hobby.

MY 2 cents ...don't forget after you do a little research and ask a whole bunch of questions ?.....don't be afraid to ask, everyone will help you on this matter...you can buy almost all the stuff you need 2nd hand or used if you prefer thats how I got all mine. go to local gun shops they always have stuff people give them or take in on trade you can get it pretty cheap just to help them get rid of it .they would rather sell new to make more money. have fun and like Pyro said learn and teach others.  ..also you will need to get at least two reloading manuals
the cheapest one would be from Hogdens, it comes in a magazine type form @ book stores for $5.00/$7.00. depending?

I guess not many buy in bulk then?

Well I have thought about reloading but dont know much about it. What equipment do I need and what do I need to watch out for?

My goal is accuracy (weight the powder?) and stable bullet in wind. I also want to be able to hunt deer so I guess Id have to buy heavy (100grain) with boat tail. What you think?

I buy in bulk when I can find the right stuff at the right price... which means I am always looking.  Right now, especially over the last several months, supplies are very LOW.  Hard to find good bulk ammo in any caliber, except perhaps .308 right now.  It was down for while, but seems to have a good supply out there for the time being.  I have not seen much in bulk .243 in quite a while.  There was some Wolf stuff around a while back, but it doesn't shoot well in semi-auto, at least not mine, so I sent it back.  Haven't seen any bulk since.

Opinion,untempered by fact,is ignorance.

There are some who do not fear death... for they are more afraid of not really living

I really like RCBS reloading equipment.  Nosler manual is the best IMO.

motox... there is a long list approximately 16,18 things I can think of and everyone is going to add or subtract something from my list .so with out any conflict or confusion get a or look at a competitor -usa/cabelas/shooters supply/bass pro/or the like and get a kit form,or buy individual pieces there is always someone taking the orders to help you out or others here at swfa might give you a good list.  again just don't want to stir the pot...if you know what I mean.
