Wow.......what a nice rifle for the money !! I am extremely pleased with the looks and feel of the gun. The trigger is perfect for me , right out of the box. The stock is slimmer than my other guns but I think I like it . The gun is lighter than I expected. The action is just awesome..............I am no expert by any means............but it is the best feeling action I have ever felt. It is almost as smooth as my Sako but has no slop wereas the Sako has a little.........but the overall feel is much better........not sure what degree lift it has but man.........feels perfect to me !!
My only complaint is the clip does not fit well.........it's hard to take out and put back in........the backside seems like it needs to be filed or something to give it a tad more clearance.
Mounted my Helia C 3-12x56 4a on it tonight and like the fit on this gun better than my Sako. It seems lower yet clears the barrel better and with a tad shorter length of pull.......the scope is mounted more forward than the Sako was !
I will do a small break in ..........but just not going to do 25 rounds of cleaning after every shot ! Got a question though............do any of you think that if I shoot Winchester ballistic silvertips with lubelox that I should only shoot those type bullets through the gun(lubelox coated bullets) and not shoot any regular bullets like core-locks ??? Just had read that somewhere and did not know if it's true !

Personally, I'm not a big believer in the barrel break-in process and in your particular case, your gun has a Wilson match grade barrel from the factory. Those barrels are hand lapped so in my opinion a barrel break-in isn't necessary. Shoot it, clean it down to bare metal with a good copper solvent like Barnes CR-10 or Sweets and your good to go. If you are convinced that you would like to do a barrel break-in I would send the first bullets down the barrel that are uncoated. Some of the molly type coatings can be difficult to remove so if your barrel has any spots that could be likely to hold copper there isn't any reason to impregnate it with a molly type coating as well. That's just my opinion and perhaps some others here might be able to offer some advise to the contrary. Just out of curiosity, what caliber did you go with? In my opinion, you have one of the best bargains going with the Cooper and I wish you well.

Cooper makes a nice rifle for the money, did you order it directly from them? I know they make a 280 but do they also make a 7mmRM or 300WM?

Didn't think so either Roy, at least from what I see on their website. I find it odd because they are very common cartridges. Maybe eventually they will.

Probably the reason is because the 52 Cooper action is a single stack magazine as opposed to a staggered like most others. Putting three single stacked magnum cartridges would put alot of belly in the magazine area of the stock. Redesigning the action to feed from a stagered magazine is probably a larger task than we can imagine.

Nice rifle, but we need to see the pics!!!
I agree with Roy that a lapped barrel is good to go.
