it was -15 this morning when I went out and started my Durango!  Thankfully, we didn't have much wind, and still the wind chill was -25 or so.

huh huh it was -33 at my place and  the ole jeep argued with me even being plugged in all night, i ran our dishwasher twice in the middle of the night between midnight and 0300 to keep the water from freezing.

I don't miss those days at all. Frozen pipes suck. Much better now. If I leave water in the garage it won't freeze.

They do not like running water is an under statement.  When I still had to deal with that, I pumped it once a year.  Saved a lot of problems.

pumping will help, but that kind of water constantly on your drainfield isnt good for it. i put 20-30 of them a year in up here. mine is one size bigger than i need just to be safe.

i have a trailer house and it has that flimsy vinyl skirting and that doesnt stop cold at all and my heat tape only goes so far before the water line enter the underside of my house, well it freeze were the heat tape stops, ive stuffed more insulation in there every year to try and help finally i started to put 2" certifoam on top of each other and use a 2x4 to hold it up. thankfully we got all that snow and it covered all the skirting so ive got extra insulation which helps.
