Hello All, I am new to the forum. I recently bought a RRA, ar-15, .223 with a 20", 1/8 twist barrel. I need to put a scope on it. This weapon will be used mostly for coyote hunting. My budget for the scope is no more than $450.00. I am wondering if the Millet or the super-sniper scopes are any good for this application or would I regret the purchase.
I would greatly appreciate any guidance in with this matter.
Thanks to all for your assistance.
Steve

If you are looking at fixed power, Super Sniper 10x would be an outstanding choice for 'yotes. The SS 10x would REALLY, I think, serve you well. If you want a variable, I believe the Millet TRS-1 would be a very good choice. I've used one on 30-06 and it performed very well.

Thank you for you reply "kick boxer". What are your thoughts on the Supersniper - ss 20x?
I tend to like to see the Knat on the yotes *&&.
Thanks Again for your thoughts.

Steve, Although the 20X is a good scope in it's own right, the low light capabilities of it is limited due to the little over 2mm of exit pupil. I would go with the 10X or a variable, I can't recommend the Millet. The only one I've had was a POS. |

Agree that the low light capabilities of the 20x leave a little to be desired, but depends on when/where you are shooting. The 20x SS would be good under the right conditions. As for the Millet, I have not owned one, have not put one through any kind of real regimen, so will have to defer to Steelbenz who has owned one. I mounted one on a 30-06 for a few days, the guy who has it has it on a 30-06, but he is not a heavy shooter. Sights in for deer season, shoots a few deer with it. He has several rifles, so it is not in constant use. I cannot speak to durability or reliability. Only that for my limited use, it was good. I like the reticle.

I prefer a variable for yotes. Running or the quick close shot is more difficult with to high a power. The RRA is a very good weapon. I have a 2.5-10 X42 BCD would be a very good choice from the sample list. for this rifle. at $299. At the lower power it is very good low light. and the BCD will give you quick range adjustment for a fast yote.

I totally agree on the variable for yotes. The one I killed this year was at 10 yards. That would have been about impossible with a 10x. The last 2 I called in were at 40 yards. Yes you can snipe them from far distances, but sometimes you can have them too close for a 10x.
