    Posted: January/03/2009 at 20:54
It's winter and I'm running out of stuff to read.  I'm looking for suggestions.  Please nothing that needs to be colored. I've been through Raymond Chandler, Dashel Hammett,  and most of Eric Ambler (bought it, but still a have a couple to go). I'd like some more of that sort of stuff.  Please not any Clancey clones. I've got most of that stuff too.   I've read Alan Furst over the summer and would like something in that vein ("Night Soldiers" is a must read). I'd like some of the later Mickey Spillane stuff if I can find it (without paying collectors prices). Other suggestions guys?

I'm reading Ollie Norths latest "American Heroes"  How about that?  Good read so far IMHO.

I've read some stuff by North, not bad, not great.  May I suggest you read "Compromised" by  Terry Reed who had North as his case officer.

ED that does look interesting.

CT I grew up with that stuff and after a while it all starts to look like work. I start to view it with a critical eye.  While your trying to make the pages stick together, I'm trashing the lighting and the fact that tits are smaller than they used to be.

I am giving extra points for stuff that is european and before WW2 or just post WW2.  That is because of certain parallels I am seeing.

Spy kinda stuff, I would say Vince Flynn or David Baldacci is good reading.  Depends if you want fiction or non-fiction.

I know he is a not an adult (not child's writer either) writer but if you are looking for an easy read that has a good story I would suggest any of Gary Paulsen's books

Scooter, I've got most of Flynn stuff and some of Baldacci.

Monster, try Jimmy Buffet's books, in your case you may want to start with Jolly Mon. I suggest that you start at the begining as some of his some of his stuff builds on its self.

Guy's I do close to two dozen books a year, not counting the books on CD while I'm in the truck.  Most of the new stuff I go through too fast. I am looking on the cheap rack.

Helo, I've seen some of that, but have not read it.

Silver are you saying I should read little kids books? Gary Paulsen is not for little kids I read it in like 8th or 9th grade but I remember his books being about survival in the outdoors. It was not an insult if that's what you took it as.

Try Joel Rosenberg.  Start with "The Last Jihad".  There are several after that.  I'm reading "The Ezekiel Option" now.  These novels are based on what's going on in the world today and Biblical prophecy.  It will make you think, a lot.
