I posted a thread the other day asking for help picking the correct Talley rings for my new prairie dog rig. Called Talley got a set ordered the day before christmas great folks to deal with.  Now here's the kicker made a trip to competitor a couple of days later and you guessed it there in the bargain cave was three sets of Talley rings at half the priced of what I had ordered from Talley. You don't know how hard it was to not pick these up and send the set back that I had ordered, but that would not be the ethical thing to do.  I know thier are a lot of people that would of done this and not thought a thing about it. I guess this let's me go to sleep most night with a clear concession. I wanted to post this to see how many of you guys have this same kind of ability to always come-up a dollar short, in the wrong line, or you should of been here yesterday when the fish were jumping into the boat.   Thanks  2skeet

Welcome to Optics Talk.

I'm a lot like you, I guess. Theres more to a purchase than just who's got the lowest price. I still subscribe to the age old adage "A deal is a deal".

I want a pleasant, friendly exchange and I like buying from professionals who know the products that they sell. Sometimes, those places have a slightly higher price than the online super store that have zero overhead, zero customer service, and no interaction.

Your NOT a day late and a dollar short, my friend....Your a man who honors his word in the little things and I can only assume, the big things as well.
I'm very glad you've become a member here.

Having worked in a Caterpiller dealership turning wrenchs on over the road trucks for 30+ years I built a reputation as being fair and honest. My customers become friends and it was a relationship that I do miss. I  now have a opportunity to pass some of my values along to my students at a career center. So far this job is about as much fun as the first one,but you don't have to get as dirty. Belive it or not thier are some really good and up-standing kids out thier that want to do right.   2skeet

Seems like I win some and lose some. I went back and forth recently over buying an add-on to a scope (Alumina filters) because I was thinking of replacing the scope. Turns out I am and I could have sent the filters back but didn't feel right about it. I may take a loss on them but that's alright. Come to think of it, last scope purchase before that a guy who bought another scope off me had an FFL and got me 30% off.

Enjoy those new rings...and heck, if you'd bought the others you'd have an excuse to put another rifle under them. At least that's the way my wife sees it! Smile

I might have bought the three at 50 off. You can never have to many scoped rifles. the more you own the harder it becomes for your beloved to keep track of themBig Smile

Sounds like you're an honorable guy, 2skeet.  Those kinds of things happen to me a lot as well, and I just write it off as "you win some; you lose some."  In the end, I think being ethical in your dealings always supercedes saving a few bucks.

I know how you feel, I bought a scope from a neighbors boy at a local sporting goods store, will not mention the name, just to give a sale.  That P.O.C. is what got me to find this site.  So something good did come of it.  I gave the paperweight, I mean scope and rings to a buddies son who needed a scope for a 25-06 his dad had bought him.  Told him to save his money and buy a real scope as soon as he can.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys. It's good to be among honorable people. After shooting skeet competitivly for more year then I would care to say. I'm finding shooting small caliber centerfire very relaxing. If you miss in skeet the rest of the targets in your 100 bird set becomes very expensive practice. Don't get me wrong I enjoy the competition and the great people, but if you don't shoot a tight group or if you miss that prairie dog you just grin a little bit and jack another round in and try again.   2skeet

I also won't do a return just to save a little $. I may buy another if I was to forsee the need. Since I seldom return I do have a problem if a store wouldn't take it back.  I know there are plenty out there who don't have a problem using something & returning it. As an example Cabelas has great service & we all chip in for their generous return policy.
